Our story begins in the Republic of Congo, where Nathalie Zola Malu grew up surrounded by cooking that stays with you: fragrant, bold, made with love and from scratch. Food was how her family showed up for each other, and those flavors never left her.
Nathalie's journey took her from Congo to France, and eventually to Buffalo, New York, her home since 2013. For fifteen years she built a career as a pharmacist, a healer by profession. But the pandemic cut right to the heart of things, and for Nathalie, the heart had always been in the kitchen. The cooking. The catering. The table full of people she loved. She had been sharing her home food her whole life, and it was time to share it with Buffalo.
In 2023, Malkia & Co. Gourmets opened its doors. The rich culinary traditions of the Congo, brought to life by a woman who believes, deeply and from experience, that the first medicine is a home-cooked meal made from scratch.
You will find us inside the West Side Bazaar at 1432 Niagara Street, where every plate is made fresh, by hand, from scratch. We use only 100% vegetarian-fed chicken, raised without hormones or antibiotics, and every dish is fully Halal certified.
